Counting up all the birthday cards, the classmate book entries and tons of other well wishes, I have been told the phrase “May your dreams come true” quite a lot so far. This sort of makes me wonder why I haven’t turned out to be an oversized bunny pulled out of some wizard topper every once in a while yet. Not that my dreams were to become an oversized bunny but considering how corny and cheesy this phrase is, I can’t think of much other ways any dream could become a reality. I mean, seriously, it must have been produced when all good fairies ever created assembled, uttered their magic spell in unison, swung their magic wand, then floated from one cloud to the next like a group of migratory birds and after a melodious boom eventually reincarnated as black letters on white paper arranged like this

Since I couldn’t figure out how to make letters flash on this blog, I ask you to imagine they were flashing just to give you a clearer impression of how corny and cheesy this sentence is in my eyes. I don’t like corny and cheesy put in writing and that’s why I don’t like this sentence. But guess what, I was still lucky enough to have a dream come true on a cold day in early December 2008.

It was when the guys at Quiksilver invited me to fly to Paris and be a star for one day. Well, maybe I wasn’t a star officially, but I am quite sure this is how you feel if you are a star: One of the hippest photo studios in Paris, a photographer that normally shoots for Chanel, a make-up artist that has just put Kate Moss’ face on, clothing of my favourite brand, about 8 other brownies only at your service and little Ela somewhere in the middle of the hectic pace being the innocent mountain girl eyes wide open told to act like a Parisian model. Wooow! Although I was pinching myself a couple of times that day, this dreamlike experience was so mind-blowing I was not able to wake up from it until some pictures flew into my mailbox a couple of days later and I eventually realized that I was no longer supposed to wake up but instead to understand that my dreams obviously had become reality… I had just turned an add campaign model!
.
Not that this was on top of the list of my most likable dreams to come true, but to be honest, it sort of came pretty straight after winning the Nobel Peace Prize, kicking George W. Bush’s ass and kissing Jude Law’s lips… And now looking at this blog being arranged alongside with the Paris picture of me in the blue version of the Quiksilver Spring 09 Collection’s Alhambra Dress, I have to admit I still haven’t really woken up from that dream yet. Not to think of how it will be in March 09 when I bump into the add campaign for the first time or see me oversized (as myself and not as a bunny coming out of a wizard topper) in a shop window… It seems like sometimes, our lives are corny and cheesy and just as dreams. My time in Paris at least was definitely the sparkling fairy explosion from above – just a thousand times more intense.
.
Now go out and get your own dreams in form of the Quiksilver Spring 09 collection pieces (believe me, they feel great to wear…) and if you see me oversized in a shop window or in the add campaign, say hi! I will try to make sure the extra-large versions of myself will wave back… Dreams do come true!
