Bara Prasilova originally from Prague (Czech Republic) is an accomplished artist and talented photographer; she took the prize for Photographer of the Year at the Czech Grand Design Awards 2009.
.
.
Being the stylist, hairdresser and make up artist for her own photo shoots, her universe is made up of image, shade and light. Her photos illustrate daily life whilst transporting us into the fairy tale world of magical dreams.
.
In collaboration with Quiksilver Women, Bara is touring her photo exhibition in Quiksilver Women stores across Europe between June and December 2010. Following the success of her exhibition during the Tony Hawk Show in Paris, Bara this year uses her experience to capture the essence and personalities of other Quiksilver Women Ambassadors.
.
For this shoot in Prague, she was accompanied by Ela, Julie Boulanger, Leddra Chapman and Mahara McKay. The photographs reveal the Fall/Winter 2010 collection in an urban universe, yet with even more rock’n’roll. Thanks to her imagery, she helps us discover the artistic and creative portraits reflecting the universe of these women.

Our beautiful Quiksilver Woman Mahara Mac Kay was dijing at the X-Games in Tignes, France. As a professional and recognized international DJ, Mahara played for Quiksilver at the Trapper Party and at Torah Bright Private Party . And as usual, this creative dj rocked the place mixing Rock and Dance Music. Gosh we had fun ! Check out the photos below to have an insight of what went down.
Born and raised in New Zealand, Mahara Mc Kay moved with her family to Switzerland in 1991. This multicultural woman expresses her creativity through her devotion : Music. As a professional and recognized DJ, Mahara aims at giving positive energy to people while playing. Free spirited and confident, Mahara is a Quiksilver woman at heart.
.
Can you describe your music?
When I DJ, the first thing I do is try to get a feel or a vibe from the people I’m playing for. It’s really important to me that they have a great time and I love to see them enjoying what I play. I really love to play rock, but also mash-ups from Rn’B/Hip Hop with ’60s, ’70s and ’80s. They make great party tunes! If the mood is right, I sometimes also enjoy a more mellow side, with some easy listening and chill-out.
.
If you were not a DJ, what/who would you be?
Definitely something that taps into the creative side of my brain. Fashion designer or stylist. Photographer or artist. Music finder for movies/soundtracks.
.
Dress code for a fancy night out?
A nice dress with some hot boots (flat) and a rockin’ leather jacket. If it’s really fancy then I’d change theboots for a sexy pair of pumps.
.
The quote that defines you?
All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them
.
If you happen to be around the Basque Country, Mahara will be mixing at the Quiksilver Airshow next Saturday 9th August in Zarautz.

Quiksilver Women’s Mahara Mc Kay in «20 Minuten» and «Rockstar Magazine»
.
20 Minuten is Switzerland’s biggest daily paper, obtainable for free at public magazine racks all over the country. Thanks to its high print run (the journal generates over 1,5 million contacts a day), 20 Minuten’s lifestyle section influences Switzerland’s trend barometer from the front, and obviously loves our Swiss Quiksilver Woman Mahara Mc Kay, introducing her as our designated DJane in the issue of June 26th. More of Mahara’s delicious music taste is featured in the current issue of Swiss music magazine «Rockstar», showing Mahara’s record polka alongside with some of the beautiful styles of the Quiksilver Women’s fall collection.

Quiksilver Women’s Ela featured in Kinki Mag
.
Kinki Mag was only launched in 2008, but is already the doubtless favourite of Switzerland’s fashionists that never fell for conventions and mainstream. Being the rebellious and progressive face of Swiss folks loving the unconventional lifestyle, Kinki Mag featured our Swiss MissEla in a photo series in April as well as introducing her as Quiksilver Women’s resident blogger within an interview in the current issue.

.
What makes you feel a Quiksilver woman?
Quiksilver is a lifestyle and this is the lifestyle I live.
.
Describe your clothing style:
I guess I have so many different styles that it depends on how I feel in that moment. Sometimes I like to be relaxed and comfortable, sometimes I like to feel sexy and romantic and sometimes I like to let my rock n’ roll side out! I’d say a mix of bohemian, independent, rock n’ roll, 70s, 80s and even a little 20s.
.
Dress code for a fancy night out?
A nice dress with some hot boots (flat) and a rockin’ leather jacket. If it’s really fancy then I’d change the boots for a sexy pair of pumps.
.
What is to be confident?
Feeling comfortable in your own skin, no matter what. Taking risks and just going for it!
.
What does timeless mean to you?
Like a fine wine, anything that gets better with age. Something that continues to carry meaning, year after year. For me, good music is timeless.
.
What is creativity?
Thinking outside the box. Being, seeing and feeling things and then realizing it.
.
The quote that defines you?
All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.

It’s not that we wouldn’t appreciate such things as International Women’s Day, but the thing with us Quiksilver Women is just that we are independent females and we don’t need others to set up occasions to celebrate ourselves. That’s why we European Quiksilver Ambassadors gathered up four days after 2009’s Internationel Women’s day to celebrate female creativity at its best! Cuz everyday is a Quiksilver women’s day!
