QSW Spring 2012: The Collection

Seren’s paintings are created by hand using watercolor pigment on paper. The compositions are fashioned by interconnecting patterns of color and concentric shapes where structures split, bubbles stack, ad pyramids multiply. Each artwork must strike a balance between layers of colors, repetitive contour lines, and the inherent qualities of the all the materials she employs.

Tennille and Alexi come to the Quik offices!

Here is a photo of our lovely ambassadors, Tennille and Alexi wearing Quiksilver Womens! We were so stoked to see them in the office rocking Quiksilver Womens and pleased to hear about their future projects, you guys will be seeing a lot more of them soon.

In 2005, Tennille and Alexi formed E P I C, Everyday People Initiating Change, a non profit organization whereby they build sustainable water systems in Africa. Through their partnership with Quiksilver, they have raised enough money to complete six water wells in Africa.

Thank you, Tennille and Alexi for embodying the spirit of the Quiksilver brand as well as you do, you inspire and empower us to do the same!  We wish them luck in all of their upcoming endeavors!

A little update

Hey everyone! Very excited about writing to you with an update – It’s been so long since I updated my blog on here and its been such an incredible year!

I spent the majority of it writing and gigging. I have felt very privileged to be making music that people are enjoying and the fan reaction at this years concerts was incredible and a feeling I will never forget. Myself and the band did a number of shows in the Netherlands and also did a Belgium TV performance and interview :) That can be seen here:

I was also
invited to support Tom Jones across three venues in the UK this Summer, playing to 35,000 people! The highlight was at Audley End where 15,000 people were in the audience – and I got to meet him after!

I also performed alongside Pixie Lott and The Wanted at Stoke’s Signal FM 2011 show which was a crazy 18,000!!! It was very scary but so much fun!

I have also supported my dear friend Ed Sheeran (who I visited the Hossegor Quiksilver house with last year) and have been in the studio again with some truly amazing songwriters and producers, including Peter Vettese (who produced my debut album), Jake Gosling (producer of my new EP), Dan Gautreau, Tim “T-Jay” Goodacre, Amy Wadge and the amazing Judie Tsuke. This has been fantastic experience and is setting up album number two very nicely – watch this space in 2012!

some pics of the Miss Switzerland event

Here are some pics of my work…
The first one is from a shooting: that was one of the dresses I presented myself as a designer at the casting for the contest of Miss Switzerland. The others are the three dresses I did for the girls during the show, and
the one where they are all on it,is during  the practice.
And finally, in the last picture the glitter dress I’m wearing is also my design and I wore for the event of Miss Switzerland.

Glamping

I love the idea of camping: the great outdoors, a log fire, birds singing, blankets, the smell of dew in the morning, eating al fresco, and simply getting away from it all. Camping is great, in theory, until it comes to getting a good night’s sleep that is. I hate sleeping bags, bumpy ground, rain leaking in and midges (annoying little Scottish flies).

That’s why this summer my friend Helen and I opted for a spot of ‘glamping’ instead. Glamping, or glamorous camping, comes in all shapes and sizes, from yurts like the yurt we stayed in to converted horse trucks.

Our yurt was let out by the lovely Gravell family, who also run the Idos surf shop and café on the same grounds. Based in Narberth in deepest South Wales, this was the perfect location to stay for anyone looking to explore the Pembrookshire countryside and coastline, as we did.

The yurt was large and comfortable, with a wood-burning stove to keep us warm and real beds to sleep on. Outside we had a cute wooden kitchen area and a large patch of ground shared with chickens, whose fresh eggs we ate for breakfast.

By day we headed for the beach and caught up with our surfing comrades at TYF Adventure, stuffed our faces with Welsh cakes and scoured charity shops for vintage treats, and by night we drank wine round the fire.

Sound good to you? Check out this video I made of our trip, to see what else glamping in Wales has to offer…
