DIY Distress Denim

It’s always fun to do a DIY project every now and then.. and distressing denim is an easy project that anyone can do.

I was inspired by these worn in and tattered boyfriend jeans, and thought I try to re-create my own version. Here’s my step by step process.

First I found a pair of oversized jeans.

Then get the tools needed… fabric scissors, an x-acto knife, and a cutting board.

To get the cropped look, decide wear you want the jeans to fall and cut off the bottoms.

Then start making the cuts wear you want them. Pair them together in the shapes that you want them to shred.

Once you have the cuts all over the jeans and you are ready to go.. throw them in the wash. After one wash you should have the right amount of distressing.. and and wear and wash will just make them better.

Then style up your look and head outdoors.

Blogs that Inspire

As a blogger for B. Jones Style, I’m always discovering new and exciting blogs that inspire me. I thought I’d share some of the sites that keep my creative juices flowing…

Heather Taylor, of LA in Bloom, keeps me inspired to enjoy the simple things in life. Creating beauty around you and soaking in all that this sunshine-mountain-flower-blooming world has to offer. She blogs about travels, blooms, food, life.. well basically.. any and everything wonderful! Check her out!

Buro 24/7 is in Russian (I think).. and having an obsession with all the fabulous Russian ladies that run the fashion week ciruit.. this site keeps me up to date on their style and social life. It’s also full of inspiration from parties, movies, and art. It’s a constant source of style in all shapes and sizes.

Natalie Joos, of Tales of Endearment, blogs about her personal style, the style of fabulous women around the world, and the interiors of interesting people with killer pads. She is a vintage lover, and I LOVE that.. her personal style is what makes me whirl.. I love seeing how she wears vintage, how she layers and how much fun she has.

What I Want Now!

I love the graphic print of the Tiki Tile Mini Dress, and imagine wearing it with a denim jacket and wedges for a golden sunny day.

The Ricon Blooms Cami has a cool retro vibe that would look great paired with cutoff denim shorts and a hoodie.

The Breezer Short are killer-cool, and are dying to be paired with a bikini and sandals for a day at the beach.

The spring looks bright, happy and full of print.

Coral and White

This spring looks light and fresh.. and I’m absolutely loving the Echo Beats White Easel jeans. Cropped denim is on trend and of-the-moment and the fact that these are also available in fun and poppy colours makes them even better.

For an easy look pair the white with coral… pull on some sandals and tousle the hair.. now.. you are good to go!

Spring is all about getting outside, enjoying the weather and taking in the sites. Nothing seems more perfect for one of those spring days than taking in a tennis match.. or at least being inspired by the classic tennis match.

Tennis inspires preppy and simple looks. Shop the look to capture this nostalgic style.

Street Style Wrap Up

New York Fashion Week has wrapped up and the big apple is back to it’s daily rush, but before it’s on to the next thing.. let’s reflect on the real runways.. the streets.

Fashion Week street style took a sporty and casual turn this season. Whether it was wearing neon pops of color, a sports cap, or navajo print jacket.. everything was lighthearted and easy to wear.

So take inspiration and have a little fun!

What to Wear: Color !

Let’s get out of the winter blues.. and wear a little color!

QSW in 2011

Looking back over 2011, I realized that I wore a lot of QSW. So many of them are pieces I’ve used over and over.. and have a timeless, classic element .. thought I’d share a few of my faves from 2011.

I wore my QSW denim jacket no matter where I was or what the weather was like.. a staple!

I layered up when it was really chilly with great QSW outerwear.

I wore all kinds of QSW denim…distressed slouchy, cropped flares, and skinny boyfriends.

QSW jersey pieces were easy go to items.. a skirt while working at home.. or a tunic layered up for a quirky summer day.

White made it into the mix with a classic button up and an open back tank.

And.. QSW stripes worked into some eccentric everyday looks.

New Year’s resolutions!

So.. yes.. it’s the new year.. and that means New Year’s Resolutions! I love starting over and having a blank slate ahead of me. I make my list and I get serious… and I’m giving you a peek into my new year.

1. Tracy Anderson has been my go to work out for the last two years.. I still love it and I love the results!

2. Drink more water.. yes! Guzzle and quench with water.. not diet coke.. WATER!

3. Wear SPF and moisturizer every single day!

4. Eat more fruits and veggies!!

Here we go.. the new year.. I’ll check back in and let you know how I’m doing… so far, so good.

Lumberjack Style

Living by the coast, this girl loves a good sunset on the horizon, sand beneath my toes and the ocean breezes…but an escape to the snowy mountains is at the top of my list during the holiday season.

I love layering up and feeling the cold against my cheeks.. it’s a whole different ball game.. jewels, high heels and glitter are not needed.

Lumberjack style is my mantra!

I started with a bold and cozy hat, pulled a coat over my sweater and paired it with my favorite QSW Brewster Slim Boyfriend Jeans…finishing it off with some weather-proof lace up boots.
