A weekend away…

Isn’t it amazing when you get to a certain place and you just feel the inner peace returning?! I have this with Biarritz. A piece of my heart is always waiting for me to return. The minute I return, I feel like home. As if the ocean and the lighthouse were welcoming myself, whenever I get back. Lately I went back to Biarritz on a holiday and managed to catch a few sun rays! Lucky me!

Today I would like to show you my secret and most favorite spot in Biarritz!

It is a spot where I enjoy sitting by myself, reading a book and listening to the sound of the ocean. What could be better than that?

I am wearing the UNION SHORTS in ink blue. Those shorts are super easy to wear with an animal print t-shirt! I am into rabbits, seriously! They are so cute. To pimp this simple outfit I used a black/grey/dark blue scarf I got in Istanbul, and wrapped it around my head, like a cleaning lady would have done back in the days. To add some color to my outfit, I chose a red Quiksilver watch. Mind the detail!

Isn’t the view amazing? Those waves at le Grande Plage were a mess but looked stunning anyways.

Now, back home in Switzerland I am feeling a little homesick looking at these photos, I guess we all have that girls, right?

All the best, Recha.

All the way from Switzerland…

Let me introduce myself:
I am Recha, a fashion addict from Switzerland, working as a fashion blogger/model/stylist next to studying communications at university. A good healthy mix I’d say! I am super excited to be the new resident Stylist for Quiksilver Women in Europe. I will be styling outfits, sharing inspirations and giving you some insights into my everyday life, by telling you some of my stories.

For my first post I thought I’d share this casual easy wearing look with you. Highwaist skirts combined with cropped tops are this summer’s must have. I am wearing this super cute TIKI TILE SKIRT with the black DOVER CARDIGAN. If your wardrobe is missing a cropped top, just pull out an old singlet and crop it yourself! It’s not warm enough here in Switzerland unfortunately, therefore I added some blue tights to keep cosy.

Have a wonderful day,

Recha.

A cozy bloom.

There’s no denying this cardigan’s unique sense of cozy. The dune open knit cardigan has the perfect cotton/wool blend to keep you warm in this spring’s chilly mornings. We wear it over the up country floral cami. Throw on some jeans, your favourite boots, grab the Aurora tote bag and hit the road!

Shop the look: Dune open knit cardiganUp country floral cami, Lorne Skinny, Aurora tote bag, Mellow Yellow Shoes.

Ready for some spring romance?

Cap sleeves and pintucking will romance any frock. But once you add beach voile and a button front you’ve created the shirt dress of the season: The Swam Bloom dress. We mix it up with suede platforms (these are from Hakei) and leather bracelets. The Dover cardigan is the perfect little cardigan to complete this spring cute look.

Quiksilver woman of the week: Serena Mitnik Miller

Serena Mitnik Miller is no stranger to us… for the last few season she’s been our muse, ambassador and collaborator. We asked the San Francisco based artist what makes her tick…

What’s your Favorite Song - Currently my favorite song is from the Feist album Metals and the song is called “The Bad in Each Other.”  Minus the name it is a great song. The whole album is good though.

Favorite Movie - Life Aquatic

Favorite Place to Travel - I like to always go to new places when I have the opportunity, but I also love the places I have already been. New York is defiantly one of those places.

Favorite Quote - A designer knows he (or she) has achieved perfection not when there is nothing left to add, but when there is nothing left to take away. — Antoine de Saint Exupéry

Favorite City - New York City.

Could you tell us about your most memorable night out - I love spending time with my close friends. The most memorable night for me would be having a bonfire on the beach with live music and a small group of me closest friends.

Person you’d most like to meet - MY Great Grandmother

Go-To Outfit - Jeans and Tee-shirt.  When I was younger it was a bathing suite, its all I ever wore.

What/who inspires you? As far as the “what” in the question, I like to take inspiration from everything around me. With “who” my mother and my grandmother inspire me. I would say pretty much inspired by everything and everyone around me.

What you are currently working on? QSW Spring 2013. My general store - its nice to have something be your own and make it different, it makes people come back. I am always working on personal art projects for different things or for myself. I just did a book cover for a Japanese writer, so that was something new and exciting.

If you could have one wish what would it be and why? Sail around the world.

Favorite Past time -    Anything water related. I love to surf and scuba dive. I also like painting and being creative. Being active and creative on whatever it is. This can be very hard to define.

If you weren’t doing what you were doing now, what would you be doing? Living the Life Aquatic!

A perfect spring outfit !

Spring is already here and our wardrobe is screaming for some colour! Pair up the surfing shore tank in this wonderful coral with every summer’s must have white cropped skinny jean.  Mornings are still chilly, so top it up with the breezy blazer. We are in love with the cotton voile floral lining that peeks out when you roll back the cuffs…  slip on your favourite moccasins (ours are from Tod’s) and you’re ready for a perfect spring day!

DIY Distress Denim

It’s always fun to do a DIY project every now and then.. and distressing denim is an easy project that anyone can do.

I was inspired by these worn in and tattered boyfriend jeans, and thought I try to re-create my own version. Here’s my step by step process.

First I found a pair of oversized jeans.

Then get the tools needed… fabric scissors, an x-acto knife, and a cutting board.

To get the cropped look, decide wear you want the jeans to fall and cut off the bottoms.

Then start making the cuts wear you want them. Pair them together in the shapes that you want them to shred.

Once you have the cuts all over the jeans and you are ready to go.. throw them in the wash. After one wash you should have the right amount of distressing.. and and wear and wash will just make them better.

Then style up your look and head outdoors.

We are feeling like stripes today !

As spring makes it’s way, stripes have started invading our closets… we are in love with the original stripes of the Sail Stripe Henley. Pair it up with some colorful jeans like the Echo beats cropped pants, a cute tote bag and some cool espadrills and you’re ready to go!

What I Want Now!

I love the graphic print of the Tiki Tile Mini Dress, and imagine wearing it with a denim jacket and wedges for a golden sunny day.

The Ricon Blooms Cami has a cool retro vibe that would look great paired with cutoff denim shorts and a hoodie.

The Breezer Short are killer-cool, and are dying to be paired with a bikini and sandals for a day at the beach.

The spring looks bright, happy and full of print.
