.

Hello from Denmark!

.

Firstly, I’d like to say that it’s great to be part of the Quiksilver family and that this new women’s blog is fantastic!. I really enjoy the blog-stories from all of you.

Although I’m a busy woman, doing too many things right now, I always find time to read your stories and adventures – thanks.

.

Let me introduce myself. I am Tevau Itchner. Actually, my full name is Tevau Violaine Juliette Itchner – waaaaaay to long for you to remember!. My big passion is to cook. I love to create great and amazing food. That is for me ART itself. Food for me is a tasting mix of colors, and always with a hiding twist.

.

I’ve been part of the team working at the Quiksilver Pro France for 3 years now, and I love it. As the head chef for the VIP house, I’ve had lots of good experiences and I really enjoy being in Hossegor. The surf spirit and the atmosphere are so special and amazing and the people too - Can’t wait to this summer!!!!

.

My passion and talent as a Chef appeared to me years ago, when I finished High School. I got a normal job as a waiter, and years later I was managing a kitchen!

I didn’t know I had talent then, but after finishing my first huge dinner party for 200 people, which was a great success, I realized it wasn’t only luck! I continued to cook, and made dinner for up to 500 during my time there.

.

Right now, I cook mostly for my friends or at smaller dinner parties, because of my studies. I like that, but I do miss it as my full-time job.

When I don’t spend time in the kitchen, I spend time with friends at home, paint large paintings and hear all kinds of music. When it comes to music I feel like a teenager, still jumping around in the living-room hearing very loud music. I love music, especially songs you can relate to in life, but a nice melody and sound, works for me as well.

.

Another thing I enjoy is visiting different café’s and restaurants. Seeing different places in Denmark and other countries I travel to inspire me and give me ideas for my future restaurant. Like everyone, I also have a DREAM. And that dream is to have my own restaurant one day.

I love to give people an experience they don’t expect, or have ever tried before. That is MY JOB in life. Share my ART of cooking with people, and see their happy smiling faces. I can’t explain the feeling that I get by it. It’s wonderful and it completes me as a Chef and also as a person.

.

Taste life – I say as a Chef. Life is a big buffet of food. Try one thing at a time and it tastes amazing. Eat too much at a time you get full too fast. But if you don’t touch it, you will miss out on so much! Me, I’m taking one step at a time. I taste life in small pieces, to fulfill my dream. J And as long as I stay focused and feel this passion, I will never give up on my dream.

Who is Anna Leddra Chapman ?

Having grown up with bands rehearsing in her home, guitars, keyboards and pieces of music kit in every corner, it’s not surprising that Anna picked up her first guitar at and started writing down her own songs. With soulful and honest lyrics that come straight from the heart, Anna is truly one of the most gifted young songwriters in Britain today and is working on her debut album with an impressive list of producers and songwriters including Steve Robson, Peter Vetesse, Chris Braide.

How did music come into your life ?
Music has been a massive part of my life since childhood. When I was little I would refuse to sleep unless there was music playing in my room! My Dad was in various bands as I was growing up, and my favourite thing to do on a Saturday would be to sing Oasis’s “Wonder Wall” while he played guitar! As I got older I started listening to artists such as Lene Marlin and Avril Lavigne, which led to Alanis Morissette, Joni Mitchell, Suzanne Vega and Carole King.

Can you describe your music ?
I like to think that my music is chilled out folk/pop with lyrics that people can relate to. My favourite review of my music said I had a ‘spine tingling voice and heart stopping lyrics’ wow! Every song really means something to me.

What makes you feel a Quiksilver Woman ?
Being a Quiksilver Woman makes me feel very independent, confident and capable of anything, and I believe the clothes reflect these feelings. It has enabled me to travel and perform in countries I have never been to before. I feel like I’m on this amazing journey, that’s teaching me so much. Most of all I have been lucky to meet other creative, talented people, some of whom I’m sure will be friends for life.

Describe your clothing style :
I love experimenting with my clothing style! I like to look original but also elegant, and that can vary from skinny jeans and a t-shirt to a little dress and high heel shoes. I love styling my hair to match my outfit and mood!

What is femininity for you?
I feel my most feminine when I am performing alongside the wonderful Jade Brightwell on violin. I just lose myself in this music, and it’s the one time I feel beautiful!

Dress code for a fancy night out ?
Really, I think anything goes as long as it makes you feel special.

The quote that defines you?
I’m not sure it defines me but its one of my favourite quotes: “No one can make you feel inferior without your permission.»
Eleanor Roosevelt

Who is Ellie Lawson ?

Photo : Juan Fernandez

Ellie Lawson is an artist whose compelling voice and rich sonic landscape reflect a life journey of personal determination and self-discovery. Born in South London, the vocalist/lyricist/musician/ composer has invented a unique musical world that is both beat-driven and organic, lyrical and edgy, thoughtful and entrancing. She branched out from writing to hip hop instrumentals that she used to buy in London record shops, into writing her own material on guitar and keys. It eventually led to LA, to collaborate with producer DJ Lethal on the final album, alongside contributions from William Orbit on two tracks. Ellie’s performances include The Ellen DeGeneres show, Sundance film festival, Abbey Rd studio as part of the brit awards for XM radio and a Barnes and Noble bookshop tour in America. She is currently working on her second album, due to be released in 2009.

Can you describe your music ?

I call it Urban Folk Pop, but I guess I’m a singer songwriter that likes to write and record to beats and I write and sing in an edgy way about a wide variety of issues - social and personal.

What are your inspirations ?

I get inspired to write when I see injustice in the world. Whether it’s at a personal or a political level. It’s my way of making sense of things. When I write about love or a relationship it’s usually me needing to make sense of it! I also like to try and make ‘a right out of a wrong’ in my song writing and I create my songs to uplift or motivate my self and others.

A quote that defines you :

The most common way people give up their power is by thinking they don’t have any’ - Alice Walker

What is feminity for you ?

Feminity for me is about having the freedom to feel good about myself and be romantic or feisty, sweet or fiery. It’s about trying out all the varying aspects of being a woman and going with it. Being feminine is fun, all the boys want to do it these days!

What makes you feel a Quiksilver Woman ?

I’m proud to be creative, independent and feisty. I like to have lots of fun but I am also really focused when I need to be. The Quiksilver woman is a free spirit and not scared to try all the options. I believe that if you know who you are, you should have no fear to experiment.

Describe your clothing style :

I like to be comfortable but with fabrics that make me feel good. I like detail and variety. I live in flat boots or converse, and in the day wear skinny jeans or shorts with T-shirts and small cardigans or fitted Jackets.

The woman you admire the most ?

Ellen De Generes. She hasn’t had an easy life and has made her own success by sticking to her guns and doing it her way against the odds, and that is something that resonates with me. She always supports the underdog and not only is she hilarious, she is very sincere and caring. She personally invited me on her show (the 2nd biggest Daytime TV show in America) and I can tell she is as beautiful a person in real life as she comes across on her shows.
