Snow day in London, by Anna

As some of you may know- London was covered in snow recently!!! And with trains and buses and cars not being able to travel- there was only one thing to do instead of go to work/school/wherever everyone needed to be… and that was to go sledging!!!! =)

So we went to the beautiful wield park just outside London- with toboggans, body boards, mats (anything we could slide down a hill on!).

It was one of the funniest enjoyable days! The snow didn’t stop for almost 24 hours ! I had to wear five layers but still looked very glamorous with my pigtails and body board……. :S.

Here are some piccies to prove i can be Extreme Leddra Chapman… enjoy!!

A New Year!!

Wow! I can’t believe its 2009!!!! Crazy! 2008 was the best year of my life so far! The touring and travelling has been amazing!

Christmas was so much fun as usual… my ten year old sister still lays out the mince pie and whisky… and my dad still hums “ho ho ho” outside my door before going to bed! We all got up ridiculously early and began the Leddra-Chapman ritual of opening presents one by one taking turns each lol it always take about 3 hours! I got a loop pedal! Like the one KT Tunstall uses when performing “black horse and a cherry tree”! I’ll be a one woman band lol! I’m still working out how it ticks but I cant wait to perform with it! I have definitely eaten to much this Christmas but I don’t care!! Its what Christmas is for! January is for joining the gym ;) whoever heard of joining it in December?!

New years eve I stayed in with my gorgeous Alex. We cooked and watched New Year’s tele and saved lots of money!! It was very lovely and nice to know we wouldn’t have a huge hangover in the morning! New years day was for sleeping in and writing new years resolutions! I’ll let you know when I’ve finished writing mine!

2009 is going to be a good one I can feel it

 ;)

Wishing everyone a very happy new year!

Anna’s first blog !

Hey everyone, I’m Anna and this is my first blog!

I’m a singer songwriter based in London- I am also at full time University studying for my music degree which is hard work but fun- continuing with my studies has been important to me.

So, what have I been up to? Well, I’ve just got back from a hard days work at the studio!!   I’m writing a song with the very talented Peter Vetesse- and I was inspired after watching a film called Factory Girl- I don’t know if you’ve heard of it. Anyway the storyline is based on the life of Edie Sedgwick (Andy Warhol’s muse) and there’s a side storyline detailing the love affair between herself and Bob Dylan- then I found out that a lot of his songs are supposedly about her- and its fascinating me sooo much! I’m doing more and more research about it as we speak, and I can’t wait to put the story into a song- hopefully the one I’m writing at the moment! It’s got a gorgeous piano part- it sounds Christmassy!

I am so excited about Christmas- I went shopping with my best friend Marisa over the weekend- and have almost everyone covered now! =) Christmas is full of little family traditions in the Leddra-Chapman household – my little sister Beth is now 10 but is still full of the wonders of it all!

Happy Christmas everyone!

Having grown up with bands rehearsing in her home, guitars, keyboards and pieces of music kit in every corner, it’s not surprising that Anna picked up her first guitar at and started writing down her own songs. With soulful and honest lyrics that come straight from the heart, Anna is truly one of the most gifted young songwriters in Britain today and is working on her debut album with an impressive list of producers and songwriters including Steve Robson, Peter Vetesse, Chris Braide.

How did music come into your life ?
Music has been a massive part of my life since childhood. When I was little I would refuse to sleep unless there was music playing in my room! My Dad was in various bands as I was growing up, and my favourite thing to do on a Saturday would be to sing Oasis’s “Wonder Wall” while he played guitar! As I got older I started listening to artists such as Lene Marlin and Avril Lavigne, which led to Alanis Morissette, Joni Mitchell, Suzanne Vega and Carole King.

Can you describe your music ?
I like to think that my music is chilled out folk/pop with lyrics that people can relate to. My favourite review of my music said I had a ‘spine tingling voice and heart stopping lyrics’ wow! Every song really means something to me.

What makes you feel a Quiksilver Woman ?
Being a Quiksilver Woman makes me feel very independent, confident and capable of anything, and I believe the clothes reflect these feelings. It has enabled me to travel and perform in countries I have never been to before. I feel like I’m on this amazing journey, that’s teaching me so much. Most of all I have been lucky to meet other creative, talented people, some of whom I’m sure will be friends for life.

Describe your clothing style :
I love experimenting with my clothing style! I like to look original but also elegant, and that can vary from skinny jeans and a t-shirt to a little dress and high heel shoes. I love styling my hair to match my outfit and mood!

What is femininity for you?
I feel my most feminine when I am performing alongside the wonderful Jade Brightwell on violin. I just lose myself in this music, and it’s the one time I feel beautiful!

Dress code for a fancy night out ?
Really, I think anything goes as long as it makes you feel special.

The quote that defines you?
I’m not sure it defines me but its one of my favourite quotes: “No one can make you feel inferior without your permission.»
Eleanor Roosevelt
